The Wright, Miller, and McGough lab had a running start on Monday, starting off the morning with the first of many drills to come at the UNT Mean Green LD Workshop. The students heard an affirmative case that was written at the very same camp a year prior, and they dissected each argument while analyzing its strengths and weaknesses. As the students worked diligently to answer all of the questions asked of them, David and Kris squared off in a battle to remember names the quickest (David won by a large margin, for those interested). After the lab finished reviewing the example case, they headed down to the student services center to make photo ID cards to be used as meal tickets. The long lines left Rob and Shannon discussing Kris' eating habits to pass the time. After lunch, they joined all of the other labs for an informative lecture by Dr. Robinson regarding the best research practices when confronted with a new resolution. Rest assured that the members of the WMM lab will never reshelve books on their own! The evening concluded with an excellent lecture on the specific camp topic, closely followed by a demonstration debate by Shane O'Neal (Affirmative) and Liz Mullins (Negative). All things considered, the WMM lab had a very solid first day that hopefully set the tone for the rest of the two weeks at UNT.
